Job Description

This position provides tutoring services to students in one or more related academic disciplines at the main campus or satellite locations such as the Southern Education Center. This position provides reinforcement to students on the importance of using computer technology and campus resources as tools for success. This position also logs and tracks all student activity as per Trio Grant reporting requirements.

List of Essential Activities

1. Tutors college students in one or more of the following: Mathematics, Sciences, Social Sciences. English Composition, Literature, Reading, study skills and computer skills
2. Reinforces student use of technology and campus resources
3. Maintains a student contact and referral log, tracks student activity and prepares reports according to TRIO Grant requirements
4. Attends required two annual training sessions and adheres to program tutoring procedures
5. Prepares correspondences and collects data for logs and reports using current computer technology
6. Related projects and duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in specific academic discipline such as Mathematics, Sciences, Social Sciences, English, Composition, Literature and/or Reading.
2. Minimum of one year of experience in a student service or social service environment requiring ongoing client service responsibilities with a diverse population and the creation and delivery of written and oral communications
3. At least one year of recent tutoring experience
4. Two years’ recent experience using Microsoft Office and databases

Preferred Qualifications

1. One year of teaching experience at the secondary and post-secondary level

Salary $17 per hour w a bachelor's degree or $18 per hour with a graduate degree
